Penny in the Office
After 20 years of working my way up the ladder in real estate, manufacturing, retail, and non-profit education, I am thrilled to have a business that allows me to share the tips, techniques and total time savers that have worked for me across the board.

As a homeschooling mother, I am also dedicated to sharing the absolute best, most enjoyable and effective tips, tools and techniques to empower other homeschooling families at CJ’s Kids Club.

In my downtime, though, I do like to get a little crazy. I read, love to go on family-friendly adventures, and dance when no one is watching!

One month after moving halfway across the country for my fabulous, upper-level administrative job, the company closed the office I had just moved to. I – like so many of you out there – was downsized.

After moving back home to Texas, I realized three things:

  1. No one wants to hire someone who has more skills and experience than they do.
They are afraid that you will take their job.
  2. No one wants to hire someone who is used to earning more than they can afford to pay.
They are afraid that you will keep looking for a better position and ditch them the first chance you get!
  3. Our best (some would say almost only) option is to become entrepreneurs.
Independent consultants harness their skills and can pick up clients and contracts as they go. Unemployed former professionals can only pick up small unemployment checks! (If they are lucky.)

Everywhere I turned, it seemed like there was someone who was laid-off, over-qualified, over-educated, and struggling to get by.

It felt like I was being punished for the very things that society tells us we should do: learn as much as we can, go for the promotions, and be the best we can be.

The bills were piling up, the nest egg was disappearing, and somehow I had to keep the utilities on and my child fed!

What is a single, unemployed mom to do?
Start my own business of course!

Instead of using my skills to run one company, I now support and train other entrepreneurs. I want you to be empowered and to know what you need to know in order to start your own online business or bring your current business into the online arena.

You and I both know that you already have the skills
to do the work you love and are called to do.

My heart and skills are in administration. It would be my honor – and my soul’s purpose – to help you with the backend so that you can focus on what you do best.
